TD&H Engineering performed environmental engineering and materials testing for a $20 million new federal courthouse in Great Falls, Montana. The land and surrounding properties were a previous Brownfields site. TD&H Engineering completed a Phase I and II investigations prior to and in conjunction with the Great Falls Development Authority west bank Brownfields project.
A century ago, the site was a brewery, but had been vacant for many years and used as an unlicensed solid waste disposal site. Our investigative work included excavation of test pits, collection of soil samples, installation of ground water monitoring wells, and ground water monitoring to determine the type and extent of impacts. After cleanup of the contaminated soils, the site was redeveloped and the new courthouse opened for public use in October 2009.
