Oilfield Avenue Path

Client Name: City of Shelby
Construction Costs: $110,000
Completion Date: 2007

Project Description

This project developed bike lanes and a separated trail that extended the Lake Shel-Oolee Recreation Trail one mile along a busy arterial in Shelby. The project construction was ultimately merged with a parallel MDT highway project. Widening the arterial to allow for bike lane construction solved a difficult pedestrian safety challenge. Transferring construction management responsibility to MDT saved local dollars. Incorporating existing planters into trail design allowed the City to enhance the park-like intersection improvements.
