What You’ll Do:
As a Geotechnical Engineer, you will contribute to a variety of projects across multiple disciplines. Responsibilities include:

  • Conduct subsurface investigations, including soil and rock sampling. Will require frequent travel to remote project sites lasting for a few days to a few weeks with occasional work on weekends required for larger projects.
  • Perform geotechnical analysis, including slope stability, settlement, bearing capacity, and lateral earth pressures.
  • Interpret geotechnical laboratory test results for engineering applications.
  • Prepare and organize detailed technical reports summarizing field and laboratory data, engineering analysis, and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients on multiple projects ensuring timely completion.

Your work will involve designing and managing projects such as:

  • Roads, highways, Bridges, Paths/Trails
  • Subdivision land development
  • Commercial site development
  • Federal Government facilities (e.g., U.S. Air Force projects)
  • Subsurface Investigation
  • Slope Evaluations & Stabilization
  • Cone Penetration Testing (CPT)
  • Shallow & Deep Foundation Systems

What We’re Looking For:
We are looking for motivated engineers who are passionate about civil design and problemsolving. The ideal candidate will have:

  • B.S. in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering (geotechnical focus preferred) from an accredited university
  • EIT certification required, PE preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in geotechnical engineering preferred.
  • Experience with geotechnical fieldwork, lab testing, and reporting.
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc. Experience with technical software such as Apile, LPile, Geostudio, etc. is preferred.
  • Exceptional communication skills and a strong team-oriented mindset
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks efficiently
  • Strong technical writing & verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail, quality, and meeting deadlines
  • Clean driving record and willingness to travel and stay out of town on remote job sites as needed. Ability to cover the upfront cost of lodging and meals which would be reimbursed monthly.
  • Physically able/willingness to perform field engineering, investigation, and other tasks on geotechnical and construction sites. Will require ability to lift up to 100 pounds and be outdoors for extended periods of time in all weather conditions. Field work is anticipated to account for up to 50 percent of the total time for this position.
  • Ability to pass a background check and periodic (random) drug and alcohol tests for access to controlled project sites.
  • Experience living or working in Montana is a plus
