The City of Whitefish needed a new 5-story concrete parking garage in the downtown area on known problematic soils that consist of soft, saturated silts that are highly compressible with no dense-bearing strata immediately present. TD&H designed a specialized subgrade improvement system using Engineered Aggregate Piers that would improve the soil to accommodate shallow foundation and slab systems while controlling potential settlement to acceptable levels.
