Your Role
As a Structural Engineer, you will independently perform structural analysis and design for new and existing structures from concept through construction. Responsibilities include:
- Independently perform structural analysis, design, and detailing for wood, steel, concrete, masonry, and cold-formed steel systems.
- Prepare structural calculations, design drawings, specifications, technical reports, and other project documentation.
- Coordinate with project managers, architects, engineers, clients, and structural staff in TD&H’s Montana and Pennsylvania offices to deliver multidisciplinary projects.
- Conduct site investigations, condition assessments, and evaluations of existing structures; develop practical repair, retrofit, and renovation recommendations.
- Provide construction-phase support, including reviewing structural submittals, responding to RFIs, and performing site observations.
- Manage multiple assignments, communicate progress and design issues, and deliver accurate work within established scopes, schedules, and budgets.

What We’re Looking For
We are seeking an experienced, self-directed, motivated structural engineer who can work with limited day-to-day oversight while remaining closely coordinated with project managers and structural teams in other TD&H offices. The ideal candidate will have:
- B.S. in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited university; M.S. with a structural emphasis preferred
- At least five years of progressive experience in structural analysis and design of buildings or comparable structures
- Engineer-in-training (EIT) certification required. Professional Engineer licensure is preferred; candidates without a P.E. should be eligible and actively progressing towards licensure.
- Demonstrated ability to develop structural calculations and construction documents independently under the general direction of a project manager.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or Revit, as well as structural analysis programs such as Enercalc, Risa, and Mathcad.
- Experience with wood, masonry, steel, concrete, and cold-formed metal design
- Experience with condition assessments and in-situ structural evaluations. Able to recognize load paths of existing structures and formulate retrofits/renovations
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and deliver high-quality work on schedule in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Salary
$105,000 – $130,000 annually (excludes year-end bonus), depending on experience, education, and qualifications.
